WHAT TO EXPECT

Healing is a process that takes time. How long it will take depends on your unique health history and goals, current lifestyle and stress factors, and how much you are willing to actively participate in your care by making necessary changes to support your own healing.

Generally though, there are three phases of chiropractic care

Phase 1: Relief Care

If you are in pain when you come into our office, the first objective is to help you feel better, so you can begin moving better and doing the things you need to do to get well again. Depending on the severity of your problem, it is typical to need care more frequently (2-3 times per week) for several weeks.

The more consistent you are with your care recommendations and self care, the better results you will likely get!

 Phase 2: Corrective Care

True healing and correction begins once you are out of pain and moving better. During the corrective care phase, muscles and other tissues are allowed to heal more completely, thereby helping prevent injury. Visits are usually less frequent, and you are given more “homework” to promote your healing process.  We will also discuss additional issues that may be affecting your health, like nutrition, physical activity, and stress management.

Again, how long this takes depends on your overall health and the severity and chronicity of your problem.  Often, more chronic problems have "layers" and multiple causes and triggers that we can uncover and correct over time.

Phase 3: Wellness Care

"Once you go to a chiropractor, you have to go forever!"

Not true -- you don't "have" to do anything!

The truth is that  many people find that once they have invested in getting healthy and feeling well, they see value in staying that way.  They are often more aware of when things “aren’t working right,” and that it is easier and worthwhile to get periodic “tune ups” to find and fix any stresses that may be developing, instead of waiting until they are in a crisis that limits their activity and enjoyment of life.

Usually, this only requires a quick visit to the chiropractor 1-4 times per month, depending on your lifestyle, stress and activity levels, and health goals.  We are always open to discussing your options with you!
